‘Larnaca is reclaiming its beachfront with the dismantling of the refineries.’ The dismantling of the refineries is due to start on the 24th of January, following the green light by the Cyprus Environmental Agency, after their request for the process to meet the strict environmental terms that have been set. With this course of events, the city is gaining back 4 km of coastline opening the road for new investment opportunities not only in tourism but also for sustainable reconstruction of the area. With the finalisation of the dismantling process, Larnaca is advancing in becoming a modern European City. Larnaca is ultimately reclaiming its beachfront as the area will be absolutely transformed with the dismantling of the installations that have been used as storage for oil products under the management of the Cypriot Company for Oil Storage. Larnaca will be finally free from those obsolete facilities that have been taking space and potentials, with the restoration of an area that will eventually allow the city to shine.
